Chicken Vindaloo Recipe

Chicken Vindaloo Recipe (With Potatoes) |
Material:
- 500 grams chicken (with or without bones)
- 2 medium potatoes (cut into small pieces)
- 2 tbsp vinegar
- 2 tbsp oil
- 2 medium onions (finely chopped)
- 2 tomatoes (finely chopped)
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 2 dried red chillies
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp red chilli powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp sugar (optional)
- 1 tsp salt (as per taste)
- ½ cup water
Method:
1. Marinate the Chicken:
Mix the chicken with vinegar, some salt and turmeric and keep aside for 30 minutes.
2. Prepare the masala:
Take a Pan to heat the oil and then add dry red chillies.
Add chopped onions and fry until golden brown.
Add ginger-garlic paste and fry for 1-2 minutes.
Add tomatoes and cook until they become soft.
3. Cook Potatoes and Chicken:
Add red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and garam masala to the spices.
Add chopped potatoes and fry for 5 minutes until slightly crisp.
Add marinated chicken and mix well.
Fry the chicken and potatoes for 5-7 minutes.
Now add water and cook on low flame for 25-30 minutes until the chicken and potatoes become soft.
4. Serve:
Garnish the prepared Chicken Vindaloo with fresh coriander and serve it with hot roti, naan or rice.
Tips:
You can add a little tamarind paste or kasoori methi for the real Goan taste.
If you like it more spicy, you can increase the quantity of red chili.
Adding potatoes by lightly frying them beforehand will make it taste better.
